she raged recklessly through the ranks

ONCE UPON A TIME in the middle of winter, a woman sat by the snow. "Oh," said the woman. She sighed heavily, looked at the blood before her, and was most unhappy. "If only I had a child as red as blood and as white as snow." And as she said that, she became quite contented, and felt sure that it was going to happen. ...then she had a child as white as snow and as red as blood, and when her husband saw it, he was so happy that he died.

she noticed neither breeze nor sound

NOW the poor child was all alone in the great forest, and so terrified that she looked at all the leaves on the trees, and did not know what to do. Then she began to run, and ran over sharp stones & through thorns, and the wild beasts ran past her, but did her no harm. she ran as long as her feet would go until it was almost evening, then she saw a little cottage and went into it to rest herself.

With these words she let go the reins.

AND NOW THE KING'S DAUGHTER searched endlessly for the maiden, whose stepfather chased away from her mother. she lay lifeless, all red drained from her pale pale face. only true love's kiss would awaken her.

probably  hansel   &  gretel.  the  idea  of  two  young  children  being  able  to  save  each  other  is  something  that  snow  is  so  drawn  to.  especially  two  abandoned  children.  i  think  she  always  liked  the  ending,   where  they’re  reunited  with  their  father.  but,  she  also  definitely  loves  the  path  of  them  getting  to  that  ending.  them  protecting  each  other.  them  fighting   &  using  their  wit.   she  finds  it  inspiring,  and  something  that  really  touches  home.  it  also  makes  her  wonder  what  it  would  have  been  like  if  she  hadn’t  been  alone.  so… yeah,  hansel  &  gretel.
